Why father figures are important?

Father figures are the most important predictor for the outcome of the future generations. As the fathers go so does the family. As the family goes so does the community, And as the community goes so does the country and then the world. Without father figures we can expect a world that continues down the path of detrimental chaos.

According to the article, Fathers and marriage are crucial to a strong society, Feminist are contributing to the devastation associated with returning our nation to a father centered country. According to one Feminist, marriage doesn’t guarantee your partner will with treat you with love, kindness, or respect for life. It doesn’t guarantee you safety, nor does it ensure your partner will support you or help with housework or childcare (in fact, marriage has long guaranteed pretty much the opposite). Marriage has been an institution within which women have suffered abuse, rape, murder and forced reproduction. It’s an institution that guaranteed men a maid and someone to bear and raise their offspring. This opinion ultimately contributes to the demise of the importance of a father in the family.

Furthermore, “a new survey has shown that women are now initiating 69 per cent of divorces – and they’re increasingly doing it because they claim their husbands don’t pull their weight with housework and childcare. The report claims that these women are heading to the divorce courts because they’ve been “inspired” by second wave feminist thinking that claims “marriage is inherently hostile to women”. For the American-based How Couples Meet and Stay Together study, researchers followed 2,262 heterosexual adults aged between 19-64 over the course of six years, from 2009 to now. In that time, 371 of those couples separated and 92 divorced. And at the root of all this turmoil is our old friend gender equality.” This war centered on gender is tearing families apart and sacrificing the need for fathers.

Having a father figure is an important ingredient for the family and our society. A home headed by the mother is a home without the husband. A home without a husband is a home without a father. Fatherless home have a traumatic impact on several areas in our society

Father involvement has a positive impact on the education of children. Children with an involved father are 40% less likely to repeat a grade in school. Children with an involved fathers who are 70% less likely to drop out of school. Children with an involved fathers are more likely to get A’s in school. Children with an involved father are more likely to enjoy school and engage in extracurricular activities

Having a father figure has a positive impact which inhibits children abusing drugs and alcohol.  Children living in two-parent household with a good relationship with their father are 32% more likely to refrain from smoking, drinking, or using drugs compared to all teens in two-parent households. Teens in single mother households are at a 30% higher risk than those in two-parent households

Father involvement has a positive impact which inhibits the incarceration of children. Youths in father-absent households still had significantly higher odds of incarceration than those in mother-father families. Thirty percent of youths in state-operated institutions come from two-parent household.  Fifteen percent of all youths in prison come from two parent homes

Having a father figure has a positive impact in the reduction of crime. Adolescents, particularly boys, in single-parent families were at higher risk of status, property and person delinquencies. Moreover, students attending schools with a high proportion of children of single parents are also at risk. A study of 13,986 women in prison showed that more than half grew up without their father. Forty-two percent grew up in a single-mother household and sixteen percent lived with neither parent

Father involvement has a positive impact in the reduction of child abuse.

Compared to living with both parents, living in a single-parent home doubles the risk that a child will suffer physical, emotional, or educational neglect. The overall rate of child abuse and neglect in single-parent households is 27.3 children per 1,000, whereas the rate of overall maltreatment in two-parent households is 15.5 per 1,000. Daughters of single parents without a Father involved are 53% more likely to marry as teenagers, 711% more likely to have children as teenagers, 164% more likely to have a pre-marital birth and 92% more likely to get divorced themselves. Father figures have a tremendous impact on our families which ultimately impacts our communities.
